This is a permanent role – Fully on site with a top Pharma client in North Carolina.
Requirements
We are seeking an experienced Packaging Automation Engineer to support automation activities across finished product manufacturing, with a particular focus on packaging and assembly operations.
Working within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving packaging line automation systems, ensuring operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and efficient production. The role will involve supporting automated packaging equipment while ensuring critical processes such as labelling and line clearance are executed in accordance with quality and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Provide automation engineering support for finished product packaging and assembly lines.
Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimise PLC and SCADA-based automation systems.
Support the implementation of automation improvements to enhance production efficiency and reliability.
Ensure packaging automation systems operate in compliance with GMP and site quality standards.
Support and maintain automated labelling systems, ensuring product traceability and regulatory compliance.
Ensure automation solutions support effective line clearance processes and minimise the risk of product mix-ups.
Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Validation teams to support day-to-day production activities.
Assist with system upgrades, troubleshooting, commissioning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Produce and maintain technical documentation in line with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
Required Experience
Proven experience as an Automation Engineer within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other highly regulated manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems, including troubleshooting and system support.
Experience supporting automated packaging and assembly operations.
Understanding of GMP requirements and validation principles.
Experience working with packaging equipment and manufacturing automation systems.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve automation issues in a production environment.
